Very nice primitive hickory-split basket dating from the late 1800's.

The entire basket has a beautiful patina & that on the hand-notched split hickory handle is especially nice. The maker obviously took great pride in his or his work.

Over-all, this fine old basket is very sturdy, however, it was also well-used in its lifetime. There is some broken loss at the bottom "edge" & the split rim has been repaired at some point with a wire wrapped & woven to hold intact.  It is 11" in diameter and 6" deep. It measures almost 10" at the top of the bent-wood handle.  $74.00

Tin milk pan.

Here is a nice clean 4 quart milk pail that was recently found in southern Pennsylvania. Weighing two pounds, this old farm primitive measures 10-1/2" tall including the lid, with a diameter of 6-7/8" at the base and 5" at the top. The base is recessed 5/8" from the bottom rim.

The pail remains in good condition. The bail handle is firmly attached to the can and the lift lid is intact and easily removed. There are a few very shallow usage dents, and very light rust residue in the inside. The old tin has darkened and worn smooth over the years.  $55.00  (sold)

The handle circles the entire basket and anchors on the bottom and still has a band of thin bark on it, there is also a band of bark around the rim..
