Antique Primitive Wood Berry Gathering Basket Box Cast Iron
This piece is truly stunning, the wonderful aged patina is like no other I have seen before. This piece from a dealer who acquired it over 40 years ago while picking in the North East US. The basket is in excellent primitive condition. It is very solid and sturdy. The handle is tight and in excellent condition also. I am unsure of the type of wood this is made of but it is a beautiful, pecky wood with tiny holes throughout. I would date this piece to the mid 1800’s but I can not be sure of that. It measures approximately 13 3/4″ long at top x 11 5/8″ wide at top x 4″ tall not including handle, including handle 7″ tall. Base measures approximately 10 7/8″ long x 8″ wide.
