16″ Pipe Box
This 16″ pipe box is a very pretty example of this common form. It is modeled after a pipe box shown in Russell Kettle’s famous book Pine Furniture of New England. The wood is all solid pine hand planed down to just 5/16″ of an inch thick. The thin wood gives this piece a delicate appearance. The pipe box tapers out getting wider toward the bottom. There is a small drawer that might have been used to hold matches. A very nice piece that would look great on the wall next to your fireplace. This one is shown in black over soldier blue milk paint with medium distressing.
