This peg rack features five Shaker style pegs arranged in a row. We hand scrape a bead around the edge of the board. Early furniture makers often scraped a bead onto the edges of furniture. The bead provides decoration but also creates and edge that is more durable to wear and tear. Shakers would place these pegs along the top of walls in their residences. They would hang chairs from them when not in use so that the floor could be more easily swept but would also hang things like small clocks from them. As they moved from room to room they would be able to take these small items with them. This one is shown in black milk paint with light distressing.
